160 meters Band: DXing on the Edge

The increasing noise in the southern part of my lot led the old 4-square mini array to be useless. By W7EL, K9UWA and KD9SV design, it had been my best receiving antenna for 10 years, but it needed also a lot of maintenance.

So I decided to substitute it with a K9AY loop, which usually gives good results and is much easier to build. There is nothing new on the construction details in my paper, but it shows mainly my noise issue.

The K9AY loop was performing very well on the Broadcasting Band, but almost useless on 160 meters due to the high noise of my environment. Only later on, after dismantled, I discovered that all that noise was caused by a nearby crossing telephone cable!
